Just received this beautiful Bluntnose sixgill shark shark jaw to clean and restore.
Caught in South Australia, it was sent tome as a whole heads the person didn’t feel confident removing the jaw and subsequently cleaning it.
The six gill is frequently caught by fishermen off the beach and the rocks, and they can get quite large, reaching up to 20ft in length.
These jaws are not calcified, hence their pearlescent appearance and their beautiful whiteness.
The teeth are very distinctive, with the upper teeth pointed and the bottom ones looking like a comb.
